Question / Issue:
When I ran Safelog, it told me that a new version is available. How do I upgrade to the new version?
Solution:
If you have a version of Safelog greater than approximately 3.01, the update should be obvious and integrated, allowing simple upgrade with only a click or two.
However, if you have an older (Pre-2005) or so version of Safelog or for some reason can't get the automated version to work, please try the following:
First, make sure that your mylogbook.dat file from Safelog is backed up. This is the file that contains all of your logbook data. Instructions on backing up this file can be had by clicking on the 'backup' link from within Safelog and also elsewhere in this FAQ.
Once you have ensured that your mylogbook.dat file is in a safe place, this is what you need to do to update your copy of Safelog to the latest available version:
- go to www.dauntless-soft.com
- go to the Safelog page.
- Download the current version from the Safelog page.
- Install the current version over your existing installation. During the installation, you may be prompted to overwrite certain files.
