Trouble Logging in to SafelogWeb.com
|
|
|
If you are having trouble logging into SafelogWeb.com:
Are you entering the correct username and password?
- Passwords are case sensitive. Be sure not to add extra spaces before or after. Is your CAPS LOCK on? etc.
- TRY RESETTING YOUR SAFELOG PASSWORD. Go to www.SafelogWeb.com, click on "password reminder" (or similar) and follow the steps to reset your password. You'd be surprised how many times we've been contacted by people who were "sure" they were entering their correct passwords (when a look at our hash logs shows this not to have been the case). Resetting / changing your password is a good idea and often fixes "can't log in" issues.
Important!
- Try changing your password to something basic, using numbers only or numbers and basic English letters only (try avoiding dashes or special characters as a test). This may help you narrow down issues.
- Make sure your 'password helper' is not interfering. Password helpers, such as that from LastPass, your browser, etc can at times overwrite the password that you think you are typing in. Be aware of this as a possibility.
- You probably have multiple email addresses. Make sure you are using one that is associated with your Safelog account.
- Lost your Safelog Password? Want to reset it? Go to www.SafelogWeb.com and click on 'password reminder.' (this is near the username and password boxes that you use to log in there).
- If the above doesn't work, you can also try visiting this link for our generic lost code tool.
- If you are using a 'password manager' on your device, verify its storage of your account info. You may want to try not using the password manager and just typing your account information in manually to isolate that as a source of problems. Also, we remind you again of the advice to change your password via www.safelogweb.com
- If you are 100% sure that you are entering the correct username/pw (you've tried changing/resetting your pw, right?), try opening a new 'Incognito' or 'Private Browsing' window in your browser and logging in to SafelogWeb.com there. If this works but your regular
browser doesn't, then either you have corrupted browser cookies on your device (make sure you clear your cookies and cache in this case) or you have a 3rd party extension to your browser that is interfering.
If you are 100% sure that you are typing in your username (email address) and password correctly...
TL;DR version: If you're sure you are entering the right username and password but still can't log in, clear your browser cookies, make sure your browser is NOT in private/incognito mode and try again. You might also want to reboot your device (and install any pending OS updates).

- Make sure you are using a modern, up-to-date web browser on a modern, up to date device using a modern, up-to-date operating system.
- Make sure your browser is not in incognito/private mode. Or, if it is not in private mode, try it in incognito/private mode to test.
- There is a very good chance that the issue is caused either by some inconsistency with the stored "cookies" in your browser or with third party extensions that you may have installed It is very likely that if you are reading this, then this is the source of your issue. Try these steps:
- Try logging in using a different browser. For example, if you are trying using Firefox, try Chrome instead.
- You can also try logging in via a "private" or "incognito" browser window on the problematic browser. If that works fine, then the issue is pretty much guaranteed to be an issue with cookies or extensions. ←←← This usually works!
- Likewise, if you have the same issue using the same browser on multiple devices (such as "I tried Firefox on 3 PCs and couldn't log in", but other login mechanisms (other device, other browser, private mode, etc) work, then the issue is likely to be your cookies or extensions. The reason for this is that modern browsers often have your settings "follow you" from device to device.
- Try clearing the cookies associated with SafelogWeb.com / PilotLog.com / dauntless-soft.com. This may well fix your issue. Where these are found depends on your specific browser, but in many modern browsers they are located in something like "Settings .. Privacy and Security" or "Tools ... Options ... Privacy and Security."
- If the above doesn't work, try disabling third party browser extensions. These sometimes go by "add-ons" or similar names.
The above should solve most issues. If it does not ...
- Again, please make sure you are using a popular, modern, and up-to-date browser. For example, Internet Explorer is now obsolete. Current versions of browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge will normally work fine.
- If you have an "internet security" suite or app running on your device, it may be interfering with the normal operation of web sites such as ours as they sometimes act as "middlemen" ostensibly to protect you from internet threats but far too often they just cause unnecessary problems.
- Try opening a new 'Incognito' or 'Private Browsing' window in your browser and logging in to SafelogWeb.com there. If this works but your regular
browser doesn't, then either you have corrupted browser cookies on your device (make sure you clear your cookies and cache in this case) or you have a 3rd party extension to your browser that is interfering.
- Do you have a firewall? This may be the cause of some problems.
- Rebooting your device (turning it all the way off and then back off) never hurts.
- Again, please check your cookies, as this could well be the cause of any issue.
- Make sure that any firewall or other security apparatus is not blocking our site in any way.
- While most VPNs should work fine with our sites, there's always the possibility that VPN can be either a help or a hindrance when connecting to our servers. If you are in a country or location where the internet is routinely censored or monitored, a VPN may be your best choice of accessing our systems. On the other hand, if you use a VPN in a freer country, either the VPN itself or your act of connecting via a non-free system may theoretically cause problems. If you are just visiting a country where the internet is routinely monitored or censored, perhaps a sensible plan of action is to wait until you get to a 'freer' location? FYI, the reason that this might be an issue in some censored/monitored locations is that for your protection we of course encrypt key logbook and user data, and some censoring/monitoring bodies may block encrypted traffic that they don't recognize.
- Try a different PC, browser, or internet connection.
Please thoroughly try the above. Normally, you should be able to at least log in on a different device, browser, or internet connection. That will help you isolate whatever is causing issues at your end.
If you can't even reach the SafelogWeb.com login screen ...
- Check your internet connection.
- Make sure you don't have a firewall or internet security suite on your PC that is causing issues.
- There is a chance that our site may be temporarily unavailable. Please wait a bit and try again.
- There may be a DNS issue between us and you. If you are at home, you can try turning off your device, TURNING OFF YOUR HOME INTERNET ROUTER, waiting a few minutes, turning the router back on, then turning your device back on to see if this clears whatever DNS/ISP issue you may have.
- If you are in a part of the world where internet censoring by authorities is at play, this may play a role in any issue you may have.
If you really can't figure it out and have waited a bit to ensure that it's just not some transient problem that will go away on its own for whatever reason, please contact us via our helpdesk with a detailed description of the issue and we'll do our best to help.
Additional Quick Tips to help you resolve SafelogWeb login issues:
Check for:
- stale or corrupted data cached by the browser (you may need to try clearing all cookies and site data in your browser settings);
- unusual browser settings (such as restricting cookies or JavaScript);
- interference from some browser extension (disable browser extensions if you have any).
Also, Try logging in to https://www.safelogweb.com/ in a 'New incognito/private window' (the wording on your favorite browser may differ); this mode creates a browser window in a 'clean state' without any cached (possibly corrupted) data and extensions disabled by default. If it works, then the most likely cause of the problem is (1) or (3), if it doesn't work - (2).
Also please make sure that you are using a modern and up-to-date browser. As of this writing (subject
to change in this future) this includes UP TO DATE VERSIONS OF Firefox, Chrome, Safari (on Mac) or Edge (on Windows.). Also, MAKE SURE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM (Windows, Mac, etc) is modern and up to date with no pending updates.
